With the title won at the ATP 500 in Barcelona, Carlos Alcaraz made history by becoming the youngest tennis player to enter the Top 10 ranking since Rafael Nadal.

Alcaraz made it onto the select list of the world’s best players at the age of 18 years, 11 months and 20 days. “Rafa” achieved the feat in 2005, also at the age of 18.

The most impressive aspect of this observation is the fact that both Spanish players managed to enter the Top 10 of the ATP ranking just after being crowned at the clay court tournament in Barcelona. In Nadal’s case, he beat Juan Carlos Ferrero, who is precisely Alcaraz’s current coach, in the final match.

This is a remarkable start to his career for the Murcia-born teenager, after he declared that he was focused on entering the Top 15 in 2022, a position he has managed to overcome without any trouble after his titles in Rio de Janeiro, Miami and Barcelona.

The young Iberian tennis player has been one of the top stories of the first half of the 2022 professional tennis season, which has allowed him to rapidly climb positions in the rankings.

After a memorable performance at the Barcelona ATP, where he defeated Pablo Carreño Busta in the final by 6/3 6/2, Alcaraz has an impressive record of 23 wins and 3 losses.
