The Celtics came out firing in Game 2, as they played strong from start to finish of that contest to score a 121-87 victory. We wanted to come out and play to the best of our ability. And that’s what we did,” Jaylen Brown said after helping Boston blast the Sixers.
Brown scored 25 points on 9/17 shooting in Game 2, while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in 23 more from the bench. Surprisingly, the Celtics were able to come away with such a dominant victory despite Jayson Tatum making just seven points on 1/7 shooting from the field. It just showed that Boston is more than just about Tatum and Brown, and that it’s a team that has so much depth. So far in the playoffs, the Celtics’ bench is fourth with 30.6 points per game, while the Sixers are 10th with just 23.7 PPG.
Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers
- Regular Season Record: 54-28
Just when it looked like the Sixers were ready to double up on their series advantage with Joel Embiid returning to the lineup, Philly suffered a shock loss to Boston in Game 2. Embiid, who just got named MVP of the 2022-23 NBA season, scored just 15 points with three rebounds and five blocks in 27 minutes in Game 2. Much glaring was the letdown performance of James Harden.
After dropping 45 points in the series opener, the bearded superstar chipped in just 12 points on 2/14 shooting from the field in Game 2. The hope is that Embiid and Harden will come up with much greater offensive numbers at home this Friday. The Sixers will also have to get their defense going again. After forcing a ton of Boston turnovers in the series opener, the Sixers only had the Celtics committing just six on Wednesday.
