Chandler Jones will bolster the Las Vegas Raiders’ secondary after agreeing to a three-year, $51 million contract.
The Raiders have surprised the free agency by adding important figures to their ranks, and the arrival of Chandler Jones was no exception. That’s so since it was not expected that they were the ones who looked for the quarterback, although it was known that he was going to have several franchises interested in him.
According to reports, Jones will sign a contract for three seasons, and he will have, at least, $34 million dollars guaranteed of the $51 million dollars that they agreed.
The Raiders prepared the place in secondary for Chandler Jones, sending Yannick Ngakoue to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for cornerback Rock Ya-Sin. Jones is clearly expected to be a starter, but they are still strengthening the defense in the best way.
Jones has been one of the NFL’s most dominant defenders for the past decade. He racked up double-digit sacks in five of the six seasons he spent with the Arizona Cardinals and was twice named first-team All-Pro (2017, 2019).
In 2021 Chandler Jones was the starter in 15 games and produced 10.5 sacks, 26 quarterback hits and six forced fumbles, the most on his team.
Befor the free agency began, the Las Vegas franchise secured Maxx Crosby with a four-year, $98.9 million contract extension. Now, they will try to form a great defensive duo with these high-level players.
Crosby played 17 games in 2021 and recorded 56 tackles, 36 solos, eight sacks and seven blocked passes.
There is no doubt that the addition of Jones, as well as the permanence of Crosby, will allow the Raiders’ fans to get excited for the 2022 season. The AFC West is expected to be the most competitive division in this 2022 season, as they will have the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders well bolstered.
