After a fast-paced start to the season, last weekend the Chiefs ran into a Colts team that got their first win after stopping the talented Patrick Mahomes, something very few had in their predictions.
After catching at least two touchdown passes in each of the first two games of the season, Mahomes finished with just one and his first interception of the year against Indianapolis. That intercepted pass and a fumble were two balls that the Colts used to take advantage against a Kansas City team that will now face one of the most powerful defenses in the league.
The Chiefs are coming off their best performance of the year by conceding just 259 yards and the fewest points to an opponent, with 20. However, they were not supported by the offense that time and may face a similar situation on Sunday night.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Regular Season record: 2-1
- BetMGM Spread: +2.5.
- Moneyline: (+118).
- Over/Under: 45.5.
Tampa Bay’s aspirations this season hinge on what Tom Brady can do on the gridiron, and their loss to the Packers speaks volumes about that.
Brady was frustrated the entire game against the Saints in the second week, and it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that he was able to respond. The situation was repeated against Green Bay, and his only touchdown pass came in the final seconds of the game. Despite throwing for 271 yards, Tampa Bay reached the red zone only once. With the return of wide receiver Mike Evans, things are expected to improve against the Chiefs.
If Brady and company can improve their offensive output, it will be extremely difficult to defeat a Buccaneers team with one of the league’s best defenses. In no game have they allowed more than 14 points to their opponents, and in two of them they have conceded 10 or less. This is something they will look to repeat against Kansas City’s good offense, the best of all the opponents they have faced so far.
JefeBet Prediction
Although this matchup features two elite quarterbacks leading their respective teams, both looked uneasy last week, and the same thing could happen again this week.
Mahomes won’t have an easy matchup against the Buccaneers’ powerful defense, while Brady, without Cris Godwin, will face a Chiefs defense that has performed quite well.
Prediction: Under (KC 24 – TB 20).
