Although the challenge ahead of him is quite big, Jose Benavidez Jr., son of Mexican boxer Jose Benavidez Sr, has shown confidence in the face of this challenge, mentioning that he will show Garcia that “154 pounds don’t suit him”, that he knows very well what he is capable of and that he will fight with the best of himself.
José Benavídez Jr. knows what it’s like to overcome obstacles, as a stray bullet hit his leg in 2016 and almost cost him his career. The boxer, though, recovered and returned to the ring, where he knocked out undefeated WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford in a performance in which Benavdez stated, “I fought using only one leg.”
However, the fighter has mentioned that his leg is now in better shape and that his physical condition is impeccable, but this will remain to be seen once he steps into the ring to face what will possibly be the second-toughest test of his career.
