The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, will be dressed to the nines this weekend as it hosts one of the most eye-catching bouts of this year in boxing: the Danny Garcia vs. Jose Benavidez Jr. fightin which the former will be making his super welterweight debut.
Garcia has been looking forward to this new challenge, mentioning that he has more strength and more energy, and that he has done a lot more sparring to suit this new weight division. However, José Benavídez Jr. has implied that he will not make things easy for him, saying that every fight is “the most significant battle of his life” and that he is “eager and ready to go.”
Just like Jose, JefeBet is also looking forward to the bout, but in the meantime we will analyze both fighters to try to find a favorite for the fight on July 30.

Although Danny Garcia is the absolute favorite for many—including the bookmakers—it must be remembered that the Philadelphia native and two-division champion has spent a lot of time out of the ring. His last fight was a loss to unified champion Errol Spence Jr. in 2020, which occurred just under 20 months ago and saw him lose his welterweight title.
Garcia will be delighted to return to the grounds of Barclays Center, which he has dubbed “his home away from Philadelphia,” having fought the main card bout eight times there, including at the facility’s opening in 2012.
In addition to this, Danny Garcia has already shown how easily he has adapted to the new divisions he has fought in, moving up in weight from 140 pounds to where he is now, so he is expected to put up a good fight.
José Benavídez Jr.
- Odds: +550
- Total fights: 29
- Wins: 27 (18 by KO)
- Defeats: 1
- Ties: 1
Although the challenge ahead of him is quite big, Jose Benavidez Jr., son of Mexican boxer Jose Benavidez Sr, has shown confidence in the face of this challenge, mentioning that he will show Garcia that “154 pounds don’t suit him”, that he knows very well what he is capable of and that he will fight with the best of himself.
José Benavídez Jr. knows what it’s like to overcome obstacles, as a stray bullet hit his leg in 2016 and almost cost him his career. The boxer, though, recovered and returned to the ring, where he knocked out undefeated WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford in a performance in which Benavdez stated, “I fought using only one leg.”
However, the fighter has mentioned that his leg is now in better shape and that his physical condition is impeccable, but this will remain to be seen once he steps into the ring to face what will possibly be the second-toughest test of his career.
JefeBet Prediction
There is every reason to consider Danny Garcia as the favorite in this fight. Not only will he be in a venue in which he feels quite comfortable, but the fighter also has shown in the past that he knows how to adequately prepare himself to face new divisions throughout his career, so he is expected to arrive fully prepared once the bell rings at the Barclays Center.
