Betting on the Duke Blue Devils
- Regular Season Record: 25-8
The Blue Devils are a win away from winning an ACC tournament title in only their first season after the Coach K era. Certainly, Jon Scheyer has done an admirable job at the helm of the Blue Devils, who defeated the Miami Hurricanes on Friday, 85-78, to clinch a spot in the ACC championship game.
Duke’s offense is humming in the tournament, as its offensive explosion against Miami just came after the Blue Devils dropped 96 points in the win over the Pittsburgh Panthers in the quarterfinals. The Blue Devils shot 62.1 percent from the field in the win against Pittsburgh and torched Miami’s defense for 54.9 FG% shooting. Duke has now won all of its last eight games.
Betting on the Virginia Cavaliers
- Regular Season Record: 25-6
Virginia is also headed to the ACC championship game after taking care of business in the semifinals of the tourney with a victory over the Clemson Tigers. The Hoos opened up their ACC tournament campaign with a 68-59 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels last Thursday.
Saturday’s game will just be the second time Duke and Virginia will share the court, with the Cavaliers winning the first meeting last February in Charlottesville via overtime, 69-62. Virginia’s defense slowed down the attack of the Blue Devils, who shot just 44.9 percent from the field and also committed a whopping 22 turnovers. That’s not surprising, though, with Virginia ending the regular season No. 1 in the ACC with a 98.1 adjusted defensive efficiency and No. 1 as well in defensive steals rate (11.4 %).
