Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (+2.5)
Regular season record: 3-3
The Falcons are back to their losing ways again. After preventing a three-game losing skid in a 21-19 home win over the Houston Texans in Week 5, the Falcons suffered a 24-16 loss at the hands of the Washington Commanders at home last Sunday. Desmond Ridder still looks like a work in progress, as he went 28/47 for 307 passing yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He was also sacked three times.
The pair of Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson also combined for just 88 rushing yards on 26 carries. However, wide receiver Drake London was a bright spot for Atlanta, as he had 125 receiving yards on nine catches and 12 targets. London is a legitimate threat downfield and he could feast again in Week 7 against a Bucs defense that is just 26th in the NFL with 247.0 passing yards allowed per game. There is also the threat of Atlanta’s defense which just had five sacks in the Washington game.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5)
Regular season record: 3-2
The Buccaneers were far from satisfied with the performance they put up in Week 6, as they suffered a 20-6 home loss against the Detroit Lions. Baker Mayfield made it clear in the postgame press conference that the Buccaneers offense has to be better after coming up with just 251 total yards and going only 2/12 on third downs.
Speaking of Mayfield, he appeared to suffer a left arm injury in the Lions game, so his status for the date against the Falcons will have to be monitored. In the event that he can’t give it a go on Sunday, the Bucs will turn to Kyle Trask for the starting QB duties. There is no need to panic yet for the Buccaneers even after the loss to Detroit. If anything, the upcoming Falcons game could serve as a bounce-back platform for Mike Evans who only had 49 receiving yards on four catches and 10 targets in Week 6.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers get it together, as Mike Evans and Chris Godwin take over downfield, thanks in large part to the stout pass protection of Tampa Bay. Taking Tampa Bay to win.
Prediction:
The Buccaneers win, 23-19.
