The Liga MX final match features two of the best teams that the Clausura 2022 regular phase had, but only one of them can be crowned champions. A lot of excitement is expected in the first 90 minutes of this series, and we hope the show lives up to a finale.
Atlas is in the right place to continue to maintain their crown as the kings of Mexican soccer. The red and black team has done a great job so far under the command of the Argentine coach, Diego Cocca, and wants to continue on that path to win the third title in its history.
The first leg semifinal against Tigres was a simple match for the team from Guadalajara as they took a 3-0 lead on the scoreboard. However, the second leg was filled with anguish and suffering. Tigres almost ended up as a finalist, after having tied the overall score.
As their fans like to say, “Atlas-style,” they won in compensation time on a penalty that was turned into a goal by captain Aldo Rocha, bringing the series to a 5-4 aggregate score.
They will be playing at home in this match after finishing in third place overall, and they will have to use the support of their fans to get an edge before returning the visit.
Liga MX Final: Will there be a curse for the super leader?
Pachuca arrives at this instance with the favorite tag after being the first overall place in the regular phase of Clausura 2022. The Liguilla is another tournament, but the Tuzo team has remained firm and so far has not lost a single game in this phase. However, many times the super leader is not the one who has eventually become champion, and this is known as “the curse of the Super Leader”.
Pachuca tied by a score of 1-1 in the first leg of the semifinal against América and ended up settling that match on their field, showing great superiority as they won by a score of 3-0 brining the score to a 4-1 aggregate.
In the first legs of the quarterfinals and semifinals, Pachuca played as a visitor and in both they recorded draws; it is possible, in this way, that they will use the same strategy in the Liga MX final.
Atlas and Pachuca faced each other on Matchday 8 of Clausura 2022 at the Jalisco Stadium and the result was favorable for the visit by a score of 0-1. For the “Foxes” this could be the revenge of that game in which they lost the undefeated home game.
