Arizona D-Backs vs. Chicago Cubs
How many strikeouts will Humberto Castellanos make?
In a starting rotation where Madison Bumgarner, Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly have been the main stars, the work done by Humberto Castellanos has been nothing to sneeze at, giving Arizona quality starts in his last three visits to the mound.
Nevertheless, strikeouts have not been the most striking part of his repertoire and in none of those three games did he exceed the five-strike mark, with an average of 4.33 strikeouts in that trio of games, with the last one being precisely against the Chicago Cubs.
The Cubs have struck out a total of 75 times in their last three series at Wrigley Field (against the White Sox, Dodgers and Pirates) for an average of 9.4 strikeouts per game. Of those 9, we believe roughly half will come from Castellanos in this game.
Pick: 4 strikeouts

Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros
Will the Astros win by more than one run?
The second game of this series between Texan rivals will be more than interesting, as both teams will have some of their best pitchers on the mound.
Cristian Javier had not allowed a run in five of his six visits before being bombed by the Washington Nationals, who scored 7 runs against him in his last visit. The Rangers’ offense is slightly worse, with their .222 batting average being the fifth worst in the MLB, so we don’t believe this will happen again.
On the other side, we’ll have Venezuelan Martín Pérez, who has been the Rangers’ best starter this season with a 2.01 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 40 1/3 innings. Perez has allowed one or fewer runs in his last five straight visits, pitching at least six innings in each. While the offensive support will be light, it’s worth mentioning that the Rangers have won both times in Martin Perez’s away starts (against Philadelphia and Oakland).
Pick: No

Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors
How many points will the Mavericks score?
The Mavericks were outscored in the first game of the series, with the Warriors winning 112-87. That means Dallas has lost four of its last five away games this postseason (with the only win being in the deciding Game 7 against the Suns; its point average in that stretch was 102.6.
Despite having players like Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, Golden State has leaned heavily on defense this season. This is evidenced by their postseason numbers, with four of their last five home games allowing fewer than 100 points to their opponents.
We expect another game in which defenses will be the major players, and we hope that Dallas has learnt from its mistakes in the first game of the series so they will be able to enhance its offensive output this time.
Pick: 96-101.
