Pumas vs América Jackpot – Picks Analysis
1.- Pumas is the only team that remains undefeated in the competition, with one win and five draws in six matches played, demonstrating their clear tendency to draw. On the other hand, América is the worst away team in the tournament, with a total of three defeats in three away games so far.
However, América hasn’t lost in its last five official visits to the university side, with four draws and one defeat in that period. Furthermore, two of the last three official meetings between the two teams ended in draws.
2.- Although América hasn’t had the best results of late when playing away from home, the Azulcrema dominated in possession, with all of those matches against Monterrey, Tijuana and León seeing them have at least 56% possession.
However, none of its last five visits to this venue saw the team exceed that possession percentage, so we think this one could be a bit lower this time around.
3.- Although Pumas hasn’t scored as many points as it would like playing at home, it cannot be faulted for not trying, as each of its home games has seen the team earn at least six corner kicks.
In addition, América is averaging about 5.3 corner kicks allowed per away performance.
4.- Guillermo Ochoa hasn’t had a quiet game of late, having saved at least two shots on goal in his last five matches, and even his best performance of the season came in away games, when he saved five shots in América’s 3-2 loss to Monterrey.
The last three meetings between the two clubs saw Pumas average 3.6 shots on goal, and with the “universitarios” unable to score more than one goal in five of six games this season, surely Ochoa could save a majority of the shots on target.
5.- If this match follows the trend of the last five between the two clubs, it will probably be a fairly quiet game with no major setbacks. Four of the last five had a change before a red card, equalizing goal or penalty kick, and the same occurred in three of Pumas’ four home games in this tournament.
