The craziness has gotten even crazier at UFC 279: after the brawl that broke out prior to the canceled press conference for the event following physical disputes between all the main fighters, the three main fights have undergone last minute changes.
Khamzat Chimaev will no longer be the star of the main event fight, and will now go on to face Kevin Holland (who would have faced Daniel Rodriguez), as they are both in the same weight class. Besides, both are known as the key protagonists of the conflict that sparked this entire revolution.
We at JefeBet won’t pass up the opportunity to provide you the latest odds for this bout, so without further ado, please enjoy the preview of Chimaev vs Holland.

UFC 279 would have been the first event to feature Khamzat Chimaev in the main event. Unfortunately, because he did not make the weight for his initial bout with Nate Diaz, he is now paired up against Kevin Holland in a fight in which he remains the favorite.
Throughout his brief career, he only had six wins: six via KO and four by submission. “Borz” is one of the category’s bright spots, fighting in two weight classes: welterweight and middleweight. His most recent fight was a decision victory over Gilbert Burns.
Definitely, the favorite to win is Khamzat by a decent lead, but he should not be too confident: all the steam that this fight brings could play against him if Holland hits the key points, at the right time. If he doesn’t lose his concentration, Chimaev should come out of this fight undefeated.
Kevin Holland
- Odds: +400
- Record: 23-7-0
- Age: 29
- Height: 1.91 m
- Weight: 81.41 kg
- Reach: 2.06 m
Kevin Holland had a difficult time in 2021. However, he has been able to demonstrate how much he has improved his level of performance this year, and as a result, he has won his last two fights. The first fight was against Alex Oliveira and the second against Tim Means. Reviewing his history in professional fights, he has achieved 23 victories: 12 of these were won by KO and 7 by submission.
In his last fight, the one against Tim Means, the 29-year-old Californian landed 53 total punches, 36 of them significant. He’s the favorite for this fight because of his experience and due to his recent performances. Holland will be looking to build on his good record and earn his third consecutive win so far in 2022.
Unfortunately for him, his preparation was for a 3-round fight and not a 5-round fight, so he starts at an even greater disadvantage against his undefeated opponent. However, it’s Holland’s explosiveness that has the potential to pull an upset.
JefeBet Prediction
This detail can’t be overlooked: this will be a five-round fight, and heading into this UFC 279, Holland had initially prepared to fight three. And when you consider his struggles against tenacious opponents like Chimaev, everything points to Trailblazer having an uphill battle.
Prediction: Khamzat Chimaev wins by KO.
