With just a few days left until the start of the 2022 MLB season, this article deals with the players with the highest annual salaries.

New York Mets star pitcher Max Scherzer earned the label of the highest-paid pitcher in the Major Leagues for the upcoming season after agreeing to a 3-year, $130 million deal.

Thanks to the deal he signed in November 2021, the three-time Cy Young winner will earn $43.33 million in the 2022 season to become the first ballplayer in history to agree to an annual salary of more than $40 million in the majors.

Mike Trout ranks as the second highest paid player in MLB with an impressive $37.1 million per year. A salary that is part of a 12-year, $426.5 million deal signed with the Los Angeles Angels.

After missing much of the 2021 campaign, the three-time American League MVP-winning outfielder is ready to resume his place as the leading figure in the California lineup.

Gerrit Cole of the New York Yankees ($36 million), Anthony Rendon of the Los Angeles Angelinos ($36.5 million) and Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets ($36 million) round out the Top 5 on this list that features several of today’s top baseball stars.

Scherzer, at 37 years old, remains among the elite of Major League starting pitchers, something that has been demonstrated by his remarkable preseason performances with the New York Mets.

After 14 seasons in the majors, the right-hander has a record of 190 wins and 97 losses with a 3.16 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. In addition, he has 3,020 strikeouts in 2,536.2 innings of work.
