Sunday’s race had everything: a huge crash on the first lap, a red flag, a safety car, Verstappen’s car failure, and a hard-fought battle for second and third place on the podium in the last 10 laps. Silverstone 2022 Reactions and Memes After the Grand Prix
For starters, Checo Pérez climbed in monumental fashion from 18th to 2nd place. Initially, the driver dropped to the last position due to a touch against Charles Leclerc that forced him to pit for a front wing change.
He then moved up through the ranks until he reached 3rd place, when he battled Leclerc, Alonso, and Hamilton simultaneously. But, like a good Mexican Minister of Defense, he managed to maintained his position to finish on the podium for the first time at Silverstone. Here are the memes:
On the other hand, at the beginning of the race and just after taking the first position, Max Verstappen’s car showed some failures and went in three times to change tires. However, this did not make his performance improve and he used his secret weapon over the radio:
After Alpine driver Ocon suffered damage to his car and had to stop, a safety car was launched in which all drivers, except Leclerc, switched from hard or medium tires to soft. This meme illustrates it perfectly:
