Everything is ready for this Tuesday, July 19, for the new edition of the MLB All-Star Game for the 2022 season. The game will be held at Dodger Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and both the American League and National League rosters and starters have already been confirmed.
The decision was made by the managers of both teams, Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker for the junior circuit and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts for the home team.
2022 MLB All-Star Game Starters and Rosters
Duel of Left-Handers
The names of the two starters for the MLB All-Star Game were announced on Monday. For the visiting team, the American League, who will take the mound will be the Tampa Bay Rays’ starter, Shane McClanahan, who ended up being an easy decision for Baker after Justin Verlander announced he wouldn’t participate in the event because he did not have enough days off to pitch.
For the home team, the National League, the favorite player is Clayton Kershaw, who won the battle against the Miami Marlins’ Sandy Alcantara, from the Dominican Republic. After the announcement, the Dodgers left-hander was happy to open an All-Star Game for the first time, although he confessed that there were other pitchers, such as Alcántara, who had more merits to fulfill that role.
American League Roster
The lineup of the junior circuit only suffered two changes of players who were selected as starters but had to miss the action due to injuries: José Altuve, of the Houston Astros, and Mike Trout, of the Anaheim Angels.
Replacing the Astros second baseman was his Venezuelan compatriot, Andres Gimenez of the Cleveland Rangers. Meanwhile, Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins will replace Trout.
