The MLB All-Star Game took place this Tuesday, July 19 in Los Angeles, and although it continues to be one of the most watched sporting events in the United States, it presented low ratings.
The MLB All-Star Game is the classic that always takes place in the middle of the season, and as the MLB is one of the most important leagues in the United States, it always has a great power of convocation. However, several of the editions between 2015 and 2022 have registered a decline in television viewership.
The American League took the MLB All-Star Game by a score of 3-2, maintaining its dominance over the National League, as this was its ninth consecutive win.
And while a significant number of baseball fans showed up at Dodger Stadium, others opted to watch from their home community, but according to ratings figures it was a smaller number than in previous years.
Nielse Company, the ratings company, reported that an average of 7.51 million viewers watched the game on Fox. This data reflects a 9.7% decrease from last year’s MLB All-Star Game audience.
Low Ratings for the MLS All-Star Game
Between 21:15 and 21:30, the maximum audience was 8.24 million viewers. Despite its all-time low records, the MLB All-Star Game was the most-watched television program on Tuesday night, July 19.
The Major League Baseball game had the second-highest audience on Spanish-language television, with an average of 127,000 viewers on Fox Sports.
Another option for watching the match was through streaming platforms, and in the case of Fox Sports, an average of 107,455 users were registered.
It is possible that these figures are not due to a lack of interest in sports, specifically baseball, but to the various options we have today to watch any type of event.
