The MLS Team of the Week is full of talent, as each of the players selected excelled over the weekend, helping their teams score points to get into the title race.
The 11 players that appear in the team of Week 16 of the MLS managed to steal the attention of soccer lovers with goals, assists, saves and actions that prevented opponents from scoring.
On its social networks, MLS published the Week 16 team, which is presented by the German automotive brand Audi. Seven of the eleven players chosen for the MLS ideal eleven scored goals, and as is customary, Hispanic heritage cannot be overlooked, thus there are five players with Latin blood.

Goalkeeper: Djordje Petrovic – New England Revolution
The Serbian goalkeeper, who plays for the New England Revolution, shined in the goalless draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Djordje Petrovic made some outstanding saves to keep the opponents from scoring. So far, he has started the last four games for the Revs and this is his first clean sheet.
Defense: Diego Palacios – LAFC
Ecuadorian defender Diego Palacios played all 90 minutes in LAFC’s 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls in MLS Week 16, scoring one of his team’s two goals.
Defense: Bill Tuiloma – Portland Timbers
Defender Bill Tuiloma was one of the important players in the Portland Timbers’ 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids. While he was solid in defense to prevent the opposition from reducing the lead, he also contributed offensively, providing an assist for one of teammate Jaroslaw Niezgoda’s goals.
Defense: Adam Lundqvist – Houston Dynamo
Houston Dynamo beat Chicago Fire 2-0 and Sweden’s Adam Lundqvist was one of the players responsible for the victory. The defender, in addition to playing an outstanding offensive role, breaking up the opponents’ attacks, also provided the assist for his team’s second goal, which was scored by Darwin Quintero.
Midfielder: Cristian Roldán – Seattle Sounders
Midfielder Cristian Roldán was involved in two of Seattle Sounder’s three goals in a 3-0 win over Sporting Kansas City, scoring one and assisting another.
Midfielder: José Martínez – Philadelphia Union
José Martínez had a strong performance in the Philadelphia Union’s 2-1 win over New York City FC, which is the reason why he appears on the MLS Week 16 team. He unwittingly provided the assist for teammate Cory Burke’s last-minute goal, capping off his great performance.
Midfielder: Jonathan Osorio – Toronto FC
Toronto FC midfielder Jonathan Osorio scored his team’s first goal in a 2-1 win over Atlanta United. Despite having only played for 61 minutes, he was one of the most outstanding players for the Canadian team.
Midfielder: Indiana Vassilev – Inter Miami FC
Indiana Vassilev was the hero for Inter Miami, scoring both goals in a 2-1 win over Minnesota United. It is worth mentioning that his goals were scored in the 87th and 90th minutes to turn the score around.
Forward: Romell Quioto – Montreal FC
Honduran forward Romell Quioto was named to the MLS Week 16 Team of the Week after contributing a goal and an assist in Montral’s 2-1 win over Charlotte.
Forward: Jaloslaw Niezgoda – Portland Timbers
Polish attacker Jaroslaw Niezgoda is another player who shone brightest in MLS Week 16. The Portland Timbers player scored a brace in a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids.
Forward: Hany Mukhtar – Nashville FC
Germany’s Hany Mukhtar had an outstanding performance over the weekend in Nashville FC’s 1-3 win over D.C. United. The forward scored two of his team’s three goals and was named MLS Player of the Week 16.
