Betting on the Brooklyn Nets
- Regular Season Record: 45-37
It looks as though the Nets have a long way to go before they can hang with Philly. However, there were still some good takeaways for Brooklyn from its 121-101 home loss to the Sixers. For one, the Nets had success slowing down Joel Embiid.
The MVP candidate went 7/15 from the field for 26 points, as the Nets’ defense gave him tough looks. Embiid still hit all his 11 attempts from the foul line, but the Nets would rather let him do that than carve them up from the field. Plus the Nets still shot 55.7 percent form the field and drained 13 of their 29 attempts from behind the arc. Sure, the Nets don’t look like they’re on the level just yet of Philly, but expect a much better performance from them in Game 2.
Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers
- Regular Season Record: 54-28
Despite their best player’s struggles from the field in the series opener, the Sixers still managed to blow the Nets out of the water, and they did that because their other stars went out there and cooked. James Harden had 23 points to go with 13 assists, while also going 7/13 from deep.
Tobias Harris had 21 points while knocking down 9/14 shots from the field. Philly was also +19 in shots differential, thanks in large part to it outrebounding Brooklyn on the offensive glass by a wide margin, 14-5. The Sixers let Brooklyn shot at a high percentage in Game 1, but they also forced the Nets to commit a dizzying total of 19 turnovers. The Sixers can eat Brooklyn alive on either side of the floor and it showed in the series opener.
JefeBet Prediction
The Sixers wallop Brooklyn again, with Joel Embiid coming up with a much more efficient performance.
Prediction: The 76ers win, 123-110.
