The NFL Draft 2022 will take place this Thursday, April 28, in Las Vegas and most of the 32 teams that make the circuit up appear to be more than interested in making some modifications to the positions in which they will have to choose the stars of the future of their respective organizations.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, more than a few teams with top first-round picks have heard several offers from lower-ranked organizations to make a major trade.

And while this is part of this type of event’s nature, the 2022 NFL Draft looks to be more interesting than it projected to be as several of those top teams are willing to trade their picks for a good amount of second and third round picks.

Although at first glance this may seem nonsensical, the reason the source told Schefter, and which has been rumored for several weeks within the circuit, is that, being a class that is not very promising, some teams prefer to have more second and third round picks and not just one first round pick.

NFL Draft 2022: Possible Interested Parties to Move down

The 2022 NFL Draft will feature several teams with no first-round picks and several with two picks in the premium round of the event.

This situation, at another time, would be of undeniable benefit to the latter. However, as we discussed earlier, the low empathy of many organizations with this college class has caused many to offer some of their first picks and thus add more picks in the middle rounds.

One of those cases could be the Carolina Panthers, a team that, although it has the sixth overall pick, would not take another name until the 137th spot, that is, until the fourth round of the draft. While releasing such a high pick is super complex, taking into account that they also need a quarterback, surely management and the coaching staff will be analyzing the possibility of adding more mid-round players by sacrificing their first pick.

Another team that could trade up would be the New Orleans Saints, who have the 16th and 19th overall picks, and could trade out of one of them so they don’t have to wait until the 49th round to make their third pick. A similar case is that of the Philadelphia Eagles, who hold picks 15 and 18 and would not re-select until pick 51.

NFL Draft 2022: Possible Interested Parties to Move up

While there are few teams interested in moving up in the 2022 NFL Draft, there are some that will surely try to move some pieces to avoid being so far behind in their picks.

An example of this is the current NFL champions, the Los Angeles Rams, who will have to pick at position 104 — almost at the end of the third round — thanks to the large number of changes made in recent seasons by prominent figures of their current team, and then pick again at 142 — almost at the end of the fourth round.

Likewise, the Las Vegas Raiders have also surrendered all of their first and second round picks for this 2022 NFL Draft and will barely take a turn at position 86, while the Miami Dolphins, with just four selections for this year, will be on the clock for the first time at position 102 which represents the fourth round of the Draft.

For their part, the San Francisco 49ers could be another team to enter the game in the final hours as the almost imminent departure of Deebo Samuel will likely leave the organization with some first round pick and thus not have to wait until the 61st spot for their first pick.
