Cristiano Ronaldo came out upset after the 1-0 loss to Everton in the Premier League and took it out on a fan by snatching his smartphone. The Portuguese player’s action caused a slight injury to the boy’s hand, for which he is being investigated.
They say that second parts are not always good. Cristiano Ronaldo has been rained on since his return to Manchester United. The team was already going through a crisis when they decided to bring in the Portuguese star, and although at the beginning things started to go well, it did not last for long as evidenced by the recent defeat, which left the Red Devils out of the qualification zone for the European cups.
Manchester United is in seventh place in the Premier League with 51 points. This has frustrated Cristiano Ronaldo, who on his way out of Goodison Park snatched a smartphone from a fan and then threw it on the ground.
The situation became even worse as the affected was a 14 year old minor, and an investigation is being opened, as the boy’s mother claims he hurt him.
Statements by the Mother of the Minor after Ronaldo’s Aggression
The woman gave statements to “ECHO” and told how the events occurred:
“At full-time the Man United players started walking off. We were in the Park End so we were right by the tunnel where they came walking past. My son was there videoing them all. He filmed all the United players walking through. And then he lowered his phone because Ronaldo had pulled down his sock and his leg was bleeding. He lowered his phone to see what it was – he didn’t even speak.”
With great indignation he showed the bruise his son got on his hand from Cristiano Ronaldo’s action: “Ronaldo then just walked past, with a terrible, terrible temper and smashed the phone out of my son’s hand and carried on walking. You can see by the bruise that he made contact. I just can’t believe I’m talking about that.”
Cristiano Ronaldo apologized through a post on his official Instagram account, where in addition to the apology he offered to invite the minor to a Manchester United match at Old Trafford:
“It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing. Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game. I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.”
Merseyside Police said they are under investigation and looking for witnesses, “Investigations are ongoing and agents are currently working with Everton to review CCTV footage (video), and extensive efforts are being made in search of witnesses to establish whether a crime has been committed.”
