Who wouldn’t like to see Stephen Curry and LeBron James play together on the same NBA team? Few would respond negatively to the prospect of witnessing a lineup featuring two of the greatest players in the history of basketball, but to our surprise, Curry himself is apparently one of those who is not so keen on sharing the court with the current star of Los Angeles Lakers.

The star of the Golden State Warriors was in an interview in radio station 95.7 for the program of The Game’s Steiny and Guru this past Wednesday, and the Game’s hosts posted audio of James raving about the 32-year-old point guard, noting that if he had a chance to play with any player today, it would be Stephen, to which Curry responded in a more realistic way than expected.

”He got his wish, as a captain he’s picked me the last two All-Star games. So I don’t know if that suffices, but I’m good right now. Whenever you get the interest or curiosity of what it would be like to play with an MVP-caliber dude like he is, and one of the greatest of all time, cool, it’s amazing. We all can live in that fantasy world though.”

Realistically speaking, Curry is absolutely correct, the possibility of them sharing teams in the near future is virtually impossible due to their current salaries, the salary cap space on both teams, and the simple fact that Curry will never leave the Warriors. Besides, Warriors management probably has no interest in bringing in James because of all that it would entail monetarily and the procedures to accommodate his contract.

However, LeBron has been playing better than ever even at 37 years old, averaging 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks in 56 games with the Lakers this season. If it weren’t for his team’s mediocre record, he would be a lock for the MVP award. Meanwhile Curry continues to recover from a sprained left foot, he has also had a great season with 25.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.3 steals.

King James’ words on Curry came from the latest episode of his HBO show The Shop, and here’s what he had to say about the three-time NBA champion:

”Steph Curry is the one I want to play with. I love everything about that guy. Lethal. When he get out his car, you better guard him right from the moment he pulls up to the arena. It would even be better if you start defending him as soon as he gets out of bed. Swear to god. He’s serious.”

In the last NBA All-Star Game, Curry was outstanding in historic fashion, hitting 16 three-pointers for 50 points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 39 minutes, and delivered both the win for Team LeBron and his first career All-Star Game MVP award.

While LeBron and the Lakers are already eliminated from the postseason in any instance, the Warriors are waiting for Curry’s return as they define their position to start the playoffs. Golden State currently sits in third place in the Western Conference (50-29), just a half-game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks.
