Betting on the Phoenix Suns
- Regular Season Record: 45-37
The Suns looked locked and loaded for the second round after humbling Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Clippers in the opening round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Phoenix eliminated the Clippers in just five games.
Devin Booker and Kevin Durant took turns in punching the Clippers in the mouth, with the former leading the Suns in that round with 37.2 points per game on 60.2 percent shooting from the floor, while the latter managed to average 28.4 points on 51.8 percent shooting from the field. With two extremely talented scorers in Booker and Durant, the Nuggets’ defense is expected to get stretched. That’s not to mention the presence of Chris Paul, whose ability to create for his teammates adds dynamism to Phoenix’s offense which averaged 122.0 points in the first round.
Betting on the Denver Nuggets
- Regular Season Record: 53-29
Denver barely broke a sweat in the first round, as the Nuggets ejected the Minnesota Timberwolves from NBA title contention after just five games. The return of Playoff Jamal Murray gave the Nuggets a huge boost in the postseason, and he’s only expected to sustain his form as one of the primary source of offense for Denver. In the first round, Murray averaged 27.4 points per game while shooting 44.2 percent from behind the arc.
Of course, Nikola Jokic remains the No. 1 weapon of Denver. A favorite to win this season’s MVP award (again), Jokic finished the first round with averages of 26.2 points, 12.4 boards, and 9.0 dimes per contest, while also knocking down 50 percent of his attempts from behind the arc. The Serbian can dominate at the post, from deep, and most especially with his playmaking. He’s going to be a huge problem for the Suns, who did not have to deal with such a monster in the first round.
JefeBet Prediction
Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic handle the business on offense, while the Nuggets also win the rebounding battle. Taking the Nuggets to win Game 1.
Prediction: The Nuggets win, 117-114.
