Katy Perry – Super Bowl XLIX
Katy Perry filled the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona with splendor for Super Bowl XLIX, making one of the best entrances in the event’s history. The American singer not only handled a giant lion, but also changed scenery four times and ended the show flying while performing her hit “Fireworks”.
Joining her were Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott, all cheering on the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.
Lady Gaga – Super Bowl LI
Lady Gaga’s talent was more than enough to delight the audience for 15 minutes without any guest artists. The singer rocked Houston’s NRG Stadium when she entered the stadium by throwing herself from its roof and singing “God Bless America” at the top of her lungs.
The spectacular halftime was fitting for the game, as this Super Bowl LI saw the historic comeback of the New England Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons.
U2 – Super Bowl XXXVI
Super Bowl XXXVI, in the 2002 season, will probably be remembered as one of the most emotional in history with U2 as the main protagonist. The British band could do nothing but perform a memorable show just a few months after the September 11, 2001 attack in New York.
After a couple of songs, they began to play “MLK” while the screen of the New Orleans stadium showed the names of all the victims who had died during the attack.
Before the end of the show, and before the St. Louis Rams and New England Patriots jumped back onto the gridiron, singer Bono opened his jacket and showed a shirt with the flag of the United States.
Beyoncé – Super Bowl XLVII
Beyoncé was in charge of the Super Bowl XLVII performance, which had to compete with Madonna’s performance from the year before, and boy, did she deliver.
With a show dedicated to female empowerment, the American not only delighted us with an impeccable choreography and voice, but she also did it alongside Destiny’s Child, the group with which she became known. The show took place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.
Prince – Super Bowl XLI
Last but not least, we have the wonderful show performed by Prince. Many believe the show conducted on the occasion of Super Bowl XLI in Miami during the 2006 season to be the best in the event’s history.
His performance began with an introduction of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” and closed with “Purple Rain”. The match was played between the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears, with the former coming out on top.
