Betting on the Oklahoma City Thunder

  • Regular Season Record: 40-42

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder are not yet done. The Timberwolves pulled off a gutsy 123-118 win on the road Wednesday over the New Orleans Pelicans to move a win closer to earning a seat in the NBA Playoffs. Oklahoma City really means business and it’s definitely no longer the team that everyone in the league pushed around over the last few seasons. Gilgeous-Alexander went off for 32 points on 11/22 shooting to go with five rebounds and three assists versus the Pels.

Meanwhile, Josh Giddey had a near trip-dub of 31 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds. Although they won just once in four meetings against Minnesota back in the regular season, the Thunder could capitalize on a demoralized T-Wolves squad that just squandered a big lead in the loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last Tuesday. Gilgeous-Alexander is also almost guaranteed to be a huge thorn in the side of Minnesota, as he averaged 33.3 points on 52.4 FG% in the three games he played versus the Timberwolves this season.

Betting on the Minnesota Timberwolves

  • Regular Season Record: 42-40

The Timberwolves will need to have a short memory, as they can’t allow the terrible loss to the Lakers to distract them from the mission ahead of them. One player who definitely needs to forget about that game is Anthony Edwards, who shot enough bricks to build the Timberwolves another arena. Edwards scored just nine points on a horrid 3/17 shooting from the field versus the Purple & Gold. It should be better for him, though, as the Timberwolves will play in a friendlier environment this Friday.

Plus, Edwards seems to love getting tested by OKC’s defense which allowed him to average 21.5 points in the regular season. Minnesota is also set to get Rudy Gobert back after he served a one-game suspension. Gobert averaged 14.7 points on 74.1 FG% and 11.7 rebounds against the Thunder in the regular season.

JefeBet Prediction

With Gobert back, the Timberwolves’ defense should get tighter. Look for Minnesota to control the pace with their rebounding and impose their size around the rim, with Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns leading the way.

Prediction: Timberwolves win, 122-120.
