The confrontation between Tim Anderson and Josh Donaldson last Saturday continues to be talked about in the world of Major League Baseball since the commissioner’s office ruled on Monday about the altercation.

According to The Athletic, Donaldson was suspended for a commitment following an MLB investigation into alleged racist comments the New York Yankees third baseman made to Anderson.

It is worth remembering that during Saturday’s engagement between the Yankees and the White Sox, both players had a strong altercation in the fifth episode. After the game, the Chicago shortstop pointed out that Donaldson called him “Jackie” on several occasions, in relation to Jackie Robinson, something that the African-American player did not take in the best way.

And while Donaldson apologized for the misunderstanding, Tim Anderson and the White Sox did not forget the situation. That’s so since, during the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader, the Chicago player took advantage of the base run after an important home run to shut the fans of Yankee Stadium up, the same that throughout the clash were calling him “Jackie”.

The Athletic also announced that Donaldson will appeal the sanction, since he alleges that this is not the first time he has called Anderson that way and that he does not understand why on this occasion the 22-year-old took it badly.

Liam Hendriks doesn’t Believe Josh Donaldson’s Apology to Tim Anderson

While Josh Donaldson reaffirmed his apologies to Tim Anderson, Liam Hendricks, White Sox closer and Donaldson’s former Toronto Blue Jays teammate, told the Chicago Sun-Times that he doesn’t believe the third baseman’s words.

“Usually you have inside jokes with the people you get along with, not people that don’t get along at all. So that statement right there was complete bullshit. But, then again, my feelings toward the individual in question are pretty well documented that we don’t get along. I’ve now spoken to, I think it’s four separate clubhouses that he’s been into and, as a whole, none of ’em got along.”

“I am not a Donaldson fan. On the field, one of the greatest. You want him on the team behind you. But I saw behind the curtain too much, and I’m not a fan.”

It is worth highlighting that the Yankees and the White Sox will no longer face each other this season in the regular round. But with both teams shaping up to reach the postseason, a new clash between the two, with the adrenaline of the playoffs and several pending accounts, promises many fireworks.
