The only way for Liga MX strikers to win over the fans is by scoring goals. The fans of the teams are not overly demanding, but the role of the striker is to score goals. If there are not any, it will be very difficult for them to become endearing figures, because, as they say, “goals are love.”
And since we know how important Liga MX strikers are to their teams, we made this list highlighting the ones we believe will be the best in this Apertura 2022.
5. Santiago Giménez
Santiago Giménez is indebted to the Cruz Azul fans, but this could be the tournament in which he can reverse his situation. It is World Cup year and the Mexican striker could be looking for a place in the call-up list of his national team, and that will force him to show his best performance.
Ever since he started with the “Maquina” in 2017, he has played 92 games in all competitions and has only scored 15 goals.
4. Nicolás Ibáñez
Argentine striker Nicolás Ibáñez has been very active between the goals since arriving in Mexico to play in the Liga de Ascenso with Atlético de San Luis in the 2017-18 season. Once in the First Division with San Luis, he continued to increase his records, which put him in the sights of Pachuca.
With the “Tuzos” he continued to demonstrate his great level and, he scored 17 goals in 38 games in the 2021-22 season. In addition to that, he was also key to the team’s ability to play in the final of the Clausura 2022 against Atlas. He is expected to continue with this good performance in this Apertura 2022.
3. André-Pierre Gignac
French striker André-Pierre Gignac has had no trouble adapting to Mexican soccer and soon became a benchmark for Tigres, who still keep him as one of their most important offensive focal points.
He is the leader of the attack, which is not expected to change in the Apertura 2022, as he is one of the best strikers in Liga MX. He arrived in Mexico in 2015 and has scored 168 goals since.
2. Jonathan Rodriguez
Jonathan “Cabecita” Rodríguez returns to Liga MX as a striker after trying his luck in Saudi Arabia. He had no success in that region of the world and only scored one goal, but now he is a member of Club América and must answer with goals.
We have faith in Rodríguez because during his time with Santos and Cruz Azul, he was always a quality player. In his time in Liga MX he scored 81 goals, 31 with the “Guerreros” and 50 with the “Máquina”.
1. Julio Furch
Julio Furch has become one of Atlas’ historic players, and thanks to his goals, the team is a two-time champion of Mexican soccer. He joined the red-and-black team in 2020, and although he has not scored a large number of goals, those he has registered so far are of great importance. He has played 49 games with Atlas and has 18 total goals.
Injuries have hampered his offensive production, but his numbers are expected to improve this season.
