The Boston Red Sox agreed to a six-year, $140 million contract with the last available star in the free agency, Trevor Story, according to ESPN.
The 29-year-old star shortstop will have the option to pursue free agency after the fourth year of this deal, which makes him one of the players who was able to get a better multi-year deal heading into the 2022 Major League Baseball campaign.
Story may end up playing second base with Boston, considering the presence of Xander Bogaerts, who has been the starting shortstop since 2014.
“I play baseball. I’m not in the front office and I’m not involved in making those kinds of decisions,” Bogaerts referred to the arrival of Story, whom he called one of his five favorite shortstops in MLB.
With the arrival of the stellar right-handed hitter, the Red Sox automatically seriously increase their chances of winning the pennant of an ever-competitive American League West Division. They come from finishing in second place tied with the New York Yankees, with a record of 92 wins and 70 losses.

After playing his first six seasons in MLB, always in the rockies uniform, the American has an average of .272 and OBP of .340, with 158 home runs and 450 RBIs. In addition, he added a total of 100 stolen bases, being a statistic that confirms his speed when it comes to running.
