The NFL never ceases to amaze us after this Wednesday the receiver Tyreek Hill was the protagonist of a mega-change between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins.

As reported by ESPN journalist Adam Schefter, the Dolphins received the sought-after receiver after sending the Chiefs five selections that are broken down as follows: a first-round pick, a second-round pick and a fourth-round pick in the 2022 draft and a fourth-round pick and a fourth-round pick for 2023.

In addition, Schefter was notified by Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, that the receiver reached an agreement to extend his contract for four seasons and $120 million, with 52.5 million of them fully guaranteed at the time of signing and the other 72 at the beginning of the administrative year of the 2023 campaign. In this way, the wide receiver becomes the highest paid of the position by surpassing the 141 million for five seasons that Davante Adams received, last week, by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Tyreek Hill’s change is certainly a big surprise after he was one of the Chiefs’ offensive references and Patrick Mahomes’ faithful partner in the attack. However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that talks to extend Hill’s one-year contract in Kansas City suffered a severe impasse and the organization gave him permission to look for another team.

As expected, those interested did not take long to appear, being Miami and the New York Jets the ones that bid best for the 28-year-old star. Hill, after receiving the offer of both teams, was able to choose his next destination which ended up being the organization of the South of the state of Florida.

As for Schefter, he added that a source confirmed that Hill was “torn” by his imminent departure from Kansas City, a team with which he won a Super Bowl and with which he debuted in 2016 after being signed as an undrafted player.

Tyreek Hill’s Great Career in Kansas City

Tyreek Hill, also known as “Cheetah” for his incredible speed and agility on the gridiron, will undoubtedly leave a very big void in a Chiefs offense that will have as main receivers tight end Travis Kelce and receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, recently signed by the team.

Hill and Mahomes are, or were, considered by many to be the most feared offensive duo in the entire league, as the speed of the wide receiver was made the most of by the talented quarterback, not only on short-yard plays, but when deploying a vertical offense that became virtually unstoppable for deep rivals.

In his six seasons with Kansas City, he exceeded 1,000 yards, received four times, and in three of them he was the team leader in the category. In addition, he twice scored more than 10 touchdowns, including 15 in 2020. Hill leaves the Chiefs as fourth in lifetime receptions (479), touchdowns (56), and fifth in rushing yards (6,630).

Hill was called up to the Pro-Bowl in every campaign since debuting with the organization to earn six appearances, as well as being selected to the 2010-era Hall of Fame team and considered three times for the All-Pro team.

The departure of the receiver is not only a hard blow for a Kansas City team that in recent years has been one of the most feared on the circuit, but represents a serious problem in their aspirations to lead the AFC West again after the great preseason that their rivals have had: Chargers, Raiders and Broncos, arming themselves with big names for the 2022 campaign.
