The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, is just days away from hosting what will be golf’s third major this season: the 2022 US Open Golf. There are many who want to keep not only the glory, but also the prizes that the tournament will deliver, but only one can be crowned the winner of the competition.

Tiger Woods (three times winner of the competition) will be absent and will not participate in this edition due to an injury to his right leg. However, his absence was astounding since the golfer did play the Masters, but, as a result, the doors now are open for other participants to win the competition.

In this article, we show you the main favorites to win the title of champion at the US Open Golf 2022.

Favorites to Win the US Open Golf 2022

Scottie Scheffler

Quota: 13.00

The golfer from New Jersey starts as the main favorite to win the title of champion in this US Open 2022. Scheffler has already won one of the majors this year by winning the green jacket at the Augusta Masters with 278 shots.

However, his participation in the second major of the year, the PGA Championship, was not the best as he did not make the cut. But he hopes to have better luck in this tournament, which saw him tie for seventh position in 2021.

Jon Rahm

Quota: 15.00

The current champion of the competition, the Spanish Jon Rahm, cannot be ruled out as one of the candidates. Rahm won the tournament in dramatic fashion in 2021, thus clinching his first major title.

The golfer was fairly consistent throughout last year, falling outside the Top 8 in a major championship only at the PGA Championship. However, this 2022 has not been as good, as he failed to break into the Top 20 in the first two majors of the year.

Rory McIlroy

Quota: 16.00

The veteran golfer from Northern Ireland is looking to re-consecrate himself at the US Open after not winning the tournament since 2011, although he still holds the record in the competition for the lowest points to win the title.

Even if he doesn’t win the tournament, a strong performance on the part of McIlroy can be expected, as he has finished in the top 20 and inside the top 10 in three consecutive majors, finishing eighth in the PGA Championship.

Cameron Smith

Quota: 20.00

The Australian, Cameron Smith, is also one of the favorites to win the championship title, although his best participation in the US Open dates back to 2015, when he finished fourth in the competition.

Smith finished third in the 2022 Masters, which will serve as motivation to recover from his poor performance in this tournament last year, where he failed to make the cut.

Justin Thomas

Quota: 20.00

Justin Thomas will hope to bring the momentum after winning the second major this season by taking the honors at the PGA Championship, winning a playoff against Will Zalatoris after they both posted 275 strokes.

He also finished eighth at the Masters in April, so the 29-year-old American is expected to do well at this major as well.
