We are approaching the final stretch of the NASCAR Cup Series season, and there are only five races left before we enter the playoffs, so this Verizon 200 at the Brickyard, which is scheduled for July 31, 2022 at Speedway, Indiana, could end up being decisive for each of the drivers involved.

The drivers will compete on a more Formula 1-style track and will cover the 321.869 kilometers before seeing the checkered flag that defines the winner.

It is worth remembering that this is a relatively new race that replaced the Brickyard 400 in 2021, so its history is quite young. Which driver will become the second winner and continue to write the history of the event after A. J. Allmendinger won the first edition? Here at JefeBet, we analyze the favorites to win the honor.

Betting Preview for the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard NASCAR Cup Series on July 31 2022

Verizon 200 at the Brickyard Predictions, Picks, Odds 2022

Where: Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Speedway, Indiana

When: Sunday, July 31, 2022, 2:30 PM ET.

Favorites

Chase Elliott (+370)

How can we not take Chase Elliott as the main favorite for this race? The current leader in this 2022 NASCAR Cup Series is on fire, and so it shows in his results in his last few races: the most recent was a first place finish in the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 after the first place and second place finishers were disqualified.

Elliott has won or finished in second place in five consecutive racesand he has a good track record at this circuit, as in 2021 he recorded the third-fastest qualifying lap and eventually finished fourth, and starting at the head of the pack would drastically increase his chances of winning the top prize.

Kyle Larson (+650)

Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott’s teammate at Hendrick Motorsport, also swept the first edition of this race in 2021 by finishing third, and is coming off a fifth-place finish at Pocono this past weekend.

That result was an improvement on his previous two races, both of which saw him finish outside the top 10, and after his success here last year, he could surely fight his way back to the top.

Denny Hamlin (+700)

Denny Hamlin will likely enter this race with a bittersweet taste after finishing first in the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400, making him the driver with the most wins in that race. However, his happiness was short-lived as he was later disqualified for alterations to his vehicle.

Notwithstanding, his performance showed that Hamlin has what it takes to be considered a favorite again this weekend, although it will mean improving on the 23rd place finish he had at the end of the previous edition of this race.

Sleeper Picks

Ryan Blaney (+850)

Ryan Blaney is still waiting for his first win of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, and the odds are high that he will finish first for the first time this year in the Verizon 200.

While Hendrick Motorsport took third and second place in this race in 2021, the one who finished second that year was Blaney.Although having finished outside the top 15 in his last two races—after being in the top 10 in four of the previous five—is a sign that he is not at his best.

William Byron (+1000)

We already mentioned that Hendrick Motorsport was one of the protagonists in 2021, and while Elliott and Larson are the most visible faces of the team, why not consider Byron as well?

William Byron has been fortunate enough to win two races this season (one more than Larson), but although his recent results have not been spectacular, with only one top 10 in his last 13 races, he could well appear above one of his teammates.

Black Horse

Tyler Reddick (+1900)

Tyler Reddick has shown two different faces this July: a first place finish at the Kwik Trip 250 and a second place finish at the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 having two finishes outside the top 20 in between.

However, there is something very important to highlight that makes Reddick be considered a dark horse in this circuit. In 2021, Reddick led the first and second stages of this race, although he would finish in twenty-first position at the checkered flag.

JefeBet Prediction

Going with the favorite is the “safest” bet, but… How can you go against what Chase Elliott has done in recent weeks? The driver has everything he needs to take the first place: good current events and a team that proved that competing in this circuit is quite good for him. For this reason, Elliott has our bet for this Verizon 200 at the Brickyard.
