The Qatar 2022 World Cup Draw will be held on April 1 at the Doha Convention Center at 10:00 AM (central time), and FIFA has already announced the procedure to know the groups in which the 32 participating teams will be distributed.
For now there are only 15 teams qualified for the Qatar 2022 World Cup (Qatar, Iran, South Korea, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, England, Serbia, Switzerland and the Netherlands), but this FIFA Date of the month of March will allow another 14 teams to get their ticket to the World Cup to complete the 29 teams that will be in the draw. Although there are 32 teams, it must be remembered that there are pending matches of playoff by UEFA, so the last three places will not be defined until next June.
On Tuesday, FIFA confirmed the accommodation of the 4 pots for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In Pot 1 will be the selection of the host country, Qatar, in addition to the seven teams best positioned in the FIFA Ranking, which at the moment are ordered as follows: Belgium, Brazil, France, Argentina, England, Italy and Spain.
It must be remembered that Italy has yet to get its ticket in the UEFA repechage phase, but by March 29 it will be known if the team will be in the Qatar 2022 World Cup or not. Their place could pass to Portugal, but they are also in the playoffs so in case neither of the two qualify Denmark or the Netherlands that are next in the Ranking will have that place, in Pot 1.
In Pot 2 will be the next eight teams in the FIFA Rankings, that is, from 8 to 15, while in Pot 3 will be the countries positioned from 16 to 23.
Pot 4 will have the teams positioned from 24 to 28, in addition to three places reserved for those who will define the positions in the repechage.
At the end of the draw for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, there will be eight groups with four teams. It is important to note that there should not be two teams from the same confederation in the group, with the exception of UEFA. European football’s governing body awards 13 places to the World Cup, making it the only confederation that can count on a maximum of two teams in the same group.
