According to ESPN journalist Jeff Passan, the New York Yankees acquired Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ben Rortvedt, after agreeing to a trade for Gary Sánchez and Gio Urshela with the Minnesota Twins.
As a result of this agreement, both teams better their rosters significantly facing MLB season 2022, which is expected to start on April 7th.
It is important to note that Aaron Boone’s team will take on Donaldson’s 50 million contract, whose CV includes winning the MLB MVP of the American League in 2015 when he was Toronto Blue Jays’ big star.
Donaldson is expected to take over as the starting third baseman in New York, while Kiner-Falefa will surely get a chance to take over as the Yankees’ starting shortstop.
As for Minnesota’s franchise, Sánchez and Urshela now belong to a team that seems to have what it takes to fight against the Chicago White Sox for the American League Central pennant.
After the constant criticism he received in recent seasons, the Dominican catcher finally left the Bronx and he should not have major problems when claiming the role of starting catcher in the Minnesota Twins.
