UFC 278 Jackpot Picks Analysis
1.- It’s a risky decision considering Kamaru Usman is not only top 1 at welterweight, but he is also ranked as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. Nevertheless, his physical condition has deteriorated over timeand hand surgery coupled with his increasing inability to run without pain could be a handicap in a fight against a Leon Edwards, who comes in looking to show his growth after being defeated by Usman seven years ago.
Many consider Usman the favorite, but at JefeBet we believe Edwards is capable of surprising everybody in this fight.
2.- Taking into account that we give Edwards as the winner, we believe that the most realistic way for him to win is by decision. Seven of his last nine fights were decided that way, including the first edition of this fight.
3.- The last 11 fights in Edwards’ career have gone to the last round, and we believe this could be the case again, as he will likely be cautious to avoid losing to Usman again.
Likewise, eight out of Kamaru Usman’s last nine fights were decided in the last round.
4.- After three consecutive defeats, José Aldo managed to recover and comes into this fight with a streak of three consecutive wins, all by decision. He will face a Merab Dvalishvili who also comes in on a winning streak (seven in a row, six by decision).
However, none of Dvalishvili’s last fights have been against a fighter of Aldo’s stature, one of the best in history in the bantamweight division, so we believe the Brazilian can take the win.
5.- As we mentioned before, the last fights of this pair of fighters have been defined by decision, and we believe that will not change this time.
