Here at Jefebet we bring you the 3 Lowrider Car Shows in San Diego that you have to know, because they are “the real deal” of this move in the city.
Lowriders have been a part of Mexican culture in the United States for quite some time. In fact, both lowrider cars and lowrider owners (and the whole lowrider movement) are considered a very important subculture. Of course, in California, several cities are characterized by their exhibitions of this type of cars, and San Diego is one of them.
Lowrider Car Shows in San Diego Are Unique
Perhaps it is because San Diego is a city that has iconic places like Barrio Logan (Logan Heights), with all that citizen movement that resulted in the well-known Chicano Park. This is, without a doubt, an achievement of the Chicano community more than 50 years ago, which is still kept alive as part of the respect and preservation of Mexican culture in the United States. But yes, the lowrider car shows in San Diego are very special.
The Lowrider culture in this city is very active and they take very seriously their sense of community, as well as their sense of belonging, and respect for their Latino identity and roots.
That’s why here at Jefebet we wanted to show you these 3 Lowriders Car Shows in San Diego that you have to know.
There we go!
1. South Bay Car Show and Concert
This is an exhibition organized by La Vuelta (Long Avenue) and Sic Productions for lowriders to show their cars modified to their liking.
This annual showcase also features live performances by well-known local artists and San Diego’s favorite DJs. Some of the artists performing in 2022 are Timex Social Club, Rodney O, La Sonora Dinamita, Pachuco José, Los Dinámicos, La Diabla.
In addition to live performances, DJs and lowriders, there is also a variety of food, drinks, Beer Garden.
This event is held at Chula Vista Center, 555 Broadway, Chula Vista, Ca 91910 and free parking is guaranteed.
“Lowrider” is the name used for cars transformed into cultural expressions and for the dedicated aficionados who make and drive them. Historically, lowriders were mostly Latino men from Texas, the Southwest, and southern California. Since the 1950s, car clubs and family members have converted older cars for cruising, shows, and competition at events, as they still do today.

2. The San Diego Low Rider Gospel Fest
The San Diego Low Riders Gospel Fest is a very special car show because it unites the low rider world with the spiritual and religious world.
This Lowrider Car Show in San Diego is a collaboration between Lowrider clubs, churches, San Diego government agencies and other groups and organizations that bring the word of Jesus Christ to the community.
Something very noteworthy about this event is its mission which involves preventing youth who have not been involved with gangs from joining gangs and youth already involved with San Diego gangs from being positively impacted to help them get out of gangs.
Our desire is to effectively facilitate a provision for those trapped in gang societies that want to get out, but don’t know how.
Some Lowriders are in the $2,500 to $3,500 range. But the most desirable models, especially because they use state-of-the-art technology to move them up and down, cost up to $21,000.
3. Raza Car Show in San Diego
This is one of the most traditional Lowrider Car Shows in San Diego. It has been done since 2014 and it is organized by La Raza Car Club #razaccsd.
We are in love with the Chicano vibe of this car club! Pure “tradition”.
This event is family-friendly and although the Lowriders are the main course because La Raza Car Club is a Lowriders Club, at La Raza Car Show they allow non-lowriders to bring classic show cars as well.
At La Raza Car Show there are raffles, a concert, delicious food and many other family activities. As the members of La Raza Car Club explain:
It’s not just the guys showing off their Lowriders. This is an event for the whole family.
Enjoy a taste of all the Lowriders you find at this one of the historic Lowrider Car Shows in San Diego. They are beautiful!
In 2022 this Car Show was held at Lucky Waller Park and started, as it does every year, at 10:00 am. until 5:00 pm.
