Initially, it was sold only in bottles, but in an attempt to re-stimulate interest in its beer after the repeal of Prohibition, Budweiser began canning its beer in 1936. This new packaging led to an increase in sales that lasted until the outbreak of World War II in 1939.

It currently sponsors the FIFA World Cup, with whom it initially signed a contract in 2010.
