Expectations for the Announcement of Eurovision’s Arrival in Latin America

Through the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), organizer of Eurovision, it was announced that they are looking for a venue to hold this famous Festival. It will be produced by the same people in charge of producing the show in the United States and Canada, producers Christer Björkman, Anders Lenhoff, Ola Melzig, Peter Settman and Greg Lipstone of Voxovation.

“The unique Eurovision format finds new fans across the globe every year and we can’t wait to expand the brand in this hugely diverse part of the world,” said Festival executive supervisor Martin Österdahl.

The Eurovision Song Contest has catapulted the careers of immense artists such as ABBA, Celine Dion, Julio Iglesias, among others.

This show over time has created a fan base around the world, and they have always demonstrated their interest in expanding the Eurovision Song Contest to different parts of the world.

So far, the EBU and its producers are still searching for a location for the Latin American version of Eurovision. This search for the host country and city is being considered among those places that are most representative of the number of spectators for the festival.

So far, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico are the countries in the sights of the producers of this festival.

In the last Eurovision Song Contest, Latin America was the continent without participants that consumed the most of the show. This created a precedent for the producers’ interest in holding the contest on this continent.

In addition, there is the precedent of El Gran Premio de la Canción Iberoamericana, a program that was very successful in Latin America. The program’s participants were from countries of the Organización de la Televisión Iberoamericana (now Organización de Telecomunicaciones de Iberoamérica), made up of Latin American nations, as well as Spain, the USA, and Portugal.

This is one of the most watched live music events in the world, with audiences of over 180 million people, at least in the last year. And this audience usually doubles in 40 countries, and it includes people between 15 and 34 years of age in particular.
