As is to be expected from Marvel Universe films, we were presented with a nice share of laughter, more than normal, but nonetheless appreciated, in addition to a fascinating plot about those characters we love so much; in this case, the God of Thunder.
Thor: Love and Thunder’s Screaming Goats Scream Just Like in the Taylor Swift Meme
In order to stay true to the Thor comics, the production team didn’t want to leave out the goats in this movie. At first, though, the goats were not going to sound like they eventually did. This whole idea finally came about by a very funny coincidence.
The goats in the film Thor: Love and Thunder are part of the Norse mythology that surrounds the God of Thunder; the goats pull the sled on which Thor travels. Taika Waititi chose to add a sound to this weird image, which will certainly make these amusing animals go down in history.
In an interview with Insider, the film‘s director discussed the origin of the goats’ hilarious screams:
“It was never intended for them to scream. We knew the goats would be there because they’re in the comics, but we didn’t know what they’d sound like. Then someone in post-production discovered this meme of a Taylor Swift song with screaming goats. I had no idea it existed.”
Certainly, this idea was pretty successful, because those who have already viewed the film have these goats and their humorous screams as a reference or beginning point for conversation topics.
For those who are unfamiliar with the viral video of Taylor Swift’s song “I Knew You Were Trouble” and the screaming goats, here it is:
The filmmaker has also commented on the origin of the goat sound, as many fans believe he was the one who was recorded shouting in order for these screams to be used for the goats.
Waititi is also a writer on the adaptation, in addition to playing Korg: “A lot of people think it’s me screaming. It’s not,” the director stated.
This explains why Thor’s goats make this noise. The creators of the Marvel Universe film believed it would be funny, and they were right, as endless memes have been posted on social networks, while fans keep on joking about the goats’ screams.
