Several days have passed since Josh Donaldson’s controversial comments to Tim Anderson, and opinions continue to appear from all sides. This time it was Aaron Judge, Donaldson’s teammate on the Yankees, who talked about it.
According to journalist Daryl Van Schouwen, of the Chicago Sun-Times, the outstanding New York outfielder confessed that he did not like it at all that the third baseman called Anderson “Jackie”, something that the Chicago White Sox player took as a racist remark.
“Joke or not, I just don’t think it’s the right thing to do there.”

Aaron Judge’s comments against Donaldson’s attitude join those given by Yankees manager Aaron Boone last Sunday. The strategist explained that he spoke with the player and understood that it was not a racist comment, but at the same time he affirmed that it was a situation that the third baseman of his team could have easily avoided.
Aaron Judge and Boone against suspension
MLB suspended Donaldson for one game as a result of his statements on Monday. The sanction did not sit well with the Yankees player, who stated his intention to appeal the decision.
For his part, Judge was also asked about it and pointed out that he did not agree since beyond all the commotion that the situation caused, the issue was already clarified .
“(Tim) Anderson is one of the best shortstops in the league, and he’s a big part of MLB and how we can grow the game. But (Donaldson) getting a one-game suspension… I don’t know. He made a mistake, he admitted to it, and we have to move on.”

Boone also showed his dissatisfaction with MLB’s decision, although he emphasized respecting the investigation that the league carried out on the controversy.
“I certainly respect it. I think they were thoughtful, they did their research, they did their due diligence, and they made what was surely a very difficult decision. But, I don’t agree with it, I don’t think it warranted a suspension.”

Josh Donaldson was placed on the COVID-19 list when the suspension was announced on Monday, so we’ll have to wait to see what happens with that until the appeal is resolved, and he is cleared to return to the New York clubhouse.
