The Atlanta Hawks are on the list of teams that would be willing to trade one of their stars for the 2022/23 NBA season in the coming days.

According to information provided by journalist Marc Stein, the Eastern Conference team would be planning to change star power forward John Collins in the days prior to the 2022 NBA Draft, which is scheduled for next Thursday, June 23.

It is possible that the Atlanta franchise intends to let Collins go in order to add a first-round pick, or an experienced player, to strengthen the team led by star point guard Trae Young.

Clint Capela, for one, appears unlikely to leave the Atlanta Hawks, largely thanks to his great relationship with Young.

As recent reports indicate, if coach Nate McMillan’s team decides to send Capela to another team, it would be because of a groundbreaking trade for Rudy Gobert or Deandre Ayton.

In this way, the Hawks continue to move ahead of the upcoming NBA season, after a season in which they finished in eighth position in the Eastern Conference and then fell in the first round of the playoffs against the Miami Heat.

John Collins’ Numbers With the Atlanta Hawks

John Collins made his NBA debut with the Atlanta Hawks in the 2017/18 season

The 24-year-old has five NBA seasons, all with the Hawks. He averages 16.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1 block per game. In addition, he registers 55.9% in field goals and 37.6% in three-point shots.

Despite consistently putting up good numbers, Collins hasn’t played more than 65 regular-round games since his 2017/18 rookie season.

Trae Young and Clint Capela Play by Heart

This video is a clear example of the chemistry that exists between Young and Capela, something that will not be easy to match in the Hawks system, should they make the difficult decision to trade the Swiss giant.

During the first quarter of the play-in tournament match against the Charlotte Hornets, the duo combined for a sensational alley oop that lifted the crowd from their seats at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena,

The next few days will be key in the planning of a franchise that seems determined to fight for the top of the Eastern Conference, which is why it understands the importance of providing the greatest number of tools to the best player on the team, Trae Young.
