Denny Hamlin (+600 on DraftKings)
With four wins already this season, Hamlin deserves all the attention he’s getting, especially in this upcoming race down in Michigan. After all, he has also won two career races at the Michigan International Speedway in 32 career starts. He also has 11 top 5s and 17 top 10s there. In addition to those numbers, Hamlin has also placed inside the top 10 in each of his last two starts, a stretch that includes his win in the 2023 HighPoint.com 400.
Kyle Larson (+750 on DraftKings)
After a third-place finish in the 2023 Crayon 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Larson has seemingly cooled off. He placed 20th in the 2023 HighPoint.com 400 then 19th in the 2023 Cook Out 400 just last week. Still, Larson has 619 points this season to go with two wins. Larson also boasts of three career victories at Michigan International Speedway. He has a career average finish there of 12.6.
Martin Truex Jr. (+850 on DraftKings)
Truex kept his streak of top-10 finishes alive when he placed seventh last week in the 2023 Cook Out 400. Prior to that, he was third at Pocono and won at New Hampshire. Although Truex is winless in 32 career starts at Michigan International Speedway, he’s been so consistent in Brooklyn. His 13.5 career average finish there is the eighth-highest all-time. He has 10 top 5s on the said track as well.
Sleeper Picks
Brad Keselowski (+2000 on DraftKings)
Keselowski is hovering just above the playoff cut line with 603 points. Ranked 14th in the standings, Keselowski hopes that the upcoming race will get him his first win of the season. He’s had multiple close calls this season with four top 5s and nine top 10s. He’s been fairly competitive most of the time, which is the same thing you can about his career at Michigan International Speedway, where he’s winless but has seven top 5s and 13 top 10s.
Erik Jones (+10000 on DraftKings)
Jones is getting desperate for a win, as he’s only 28th this season with 336 points and zero wins. But there’s a reason to keep the hope alive on the Legacy Motor Club driver to finally break through in the win column this coming weekend. In 10 career starts at Michigan International Speedway, he’s cracked the top 10 twice and the top 5 once. Last year, he finished eighth in the 2022 FireKeepers Casino 400.
Dark Horse
Austin Cindric (+20000 on DraftKings)
Cindric has raced just once at the Michigan International Speedway so far in his NASCAR Cup Series career and in that start, he had an accident and settled for a 37th place in last year’s FireKeepers Casino 400. He has three top 10s this season.
El Jefe’s Prediction on 2023 FireKeepers Casino 400
Larson is due for a win – or at least a strong performance – after back-to-back lackluster performances. Taking Larson to win this Sunday in Brooklyn.
