Martin Truex Jr. (+450 on DraftKings)
Truex remains in fantastic form, as he just finished second in last week’s FireKeepers Casino 400 race at the Michigan International Speedway. Second in the standings with 799 points, Truex has cracked the top five in each of his last four starts and the top 10 in all starts during that stretch. He also has five career wins on road courses.
Tyler Reddick (+550 on DraftKings)
Reddick was just 30th last week in Brooklyn but has a pair of top 10s in two of his last four starts. But a bigger reason to feel confident in him is the fact that he has three wins in his NASCAR Cup Series career on races on road courses. In fact, he is the defending champion of the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard, having won this event in 2022 in which he also led the race for 86 laps.
Shane Van Gisbergen (+550 on DraftKings)
Van Gisbergen is making another appearance this season. More NASCAR fans should know his name by now, as he enters the race this Sunday not too far removed from his win at the Chicago street race last July. With that victory, he became just the first driver in 60 years to take the checkered flag in a NASCAR debut.
Sleeper Picks
Kyle Busch (+1200 on DraftKings)
The Childress Racing driver is raring to get back on track following a 37th-place campaign last week in the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway. With three wins on the season, Busch is still a driver to watch out for on a weekly basis. Busch finished 20th in his first NASCAR Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course in 2020 then improved in 2021 with an 11th-place performance.
Christopher Bell (+1400 on DraftKings)
Seventh in the standings with 677 points, Bell continues to look for his second win of the season. Bell, who finished 18th in the Chicago street race, placed 12th in the 2022 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.
Dark Horse
Kevin Harvick (+6500 on DraftKings)
Harvick has been decent of late. He has finished eighth or better in three of his last four starts, including a pair of fourth places in New Hampshire and in Richmond. In 57 career starts on road courses, Harvick has won twice and placed in the top five 12 times.
El Jefe’s Prediction on 2023 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard
Shane Van Gisbergen goes 2/2 in his NASCAR Cup Series career with another win this weekend.
