Betting on the Houston Astros

Houston Astros vs Seattle Mariners
  • Season record: 106-56 (West Division Leader).
  • Regular round vs Mariners: 12-7.
  • LA Division Series: 2-0.
  • Runline: (-1.5, +155).
  • Moneyline: (-110)
  • Over/Under: 7.

After an impressive comeback in Game 1 of the series, the Astros took a big step into the next round of the postseason after winning the second home game.

With winning in mind, and having Yordan Alvarez on their side, it looks like the Astros’ win might happen at any given moment, batting .500 (8-4) in the series for .500 (8-4), with a double, two home runs and seven tows.

The Cuban outfielder has been the protagonist of this series by practically winning both games with his hits. In Game 1, he hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning with two outs to put Seattle away, while in Game 2 he hit a two-run homer to put the Astros up in the sixth.

While Alvarez and the offense get the job done, manager Dusty Baker looks forward to end the game and send Lance McCullers Jr. to the mound. The right-hander only made eight starts this campaign, as he was recovering from an injury, but in that period, he did not lacked conviction on the mound. He pitched five starts and did not allow more than three runs in in any of his appearances.

Starting pitcher: Lance McCullers Jr. (4-2, 2.27 ERA).

Injuries: No injuries reported.

Betting on Seattle Mariners

Houston Astros vs Seattle Mariners
  • Season record: 90-72 (2nd wild card).
  • Regular round vs Astros: 7-12 .
  • LA Division Series: 0-2.
  • Runline: (+1.5, -189).
  • Moneyline: (-110)
  • Over/Under: 7.

The fantastic season the Mariners’ have been having is about to come to an end, as they find themselves with their backs against the wall in what appears to be a very difficult series against one of the best teams in the Major Leagues.

After losing the opportunity to save the game in Houston, following the Astros’ comeback in Game 1, the offense was unable to respond during the second game and the pitching was punished by Yordan Álvarez.

To have any sort of chance, the Mariners must not only find a way to appease the Cuban, but also bring about some results with the bat as they did last Tuesday. In the second game, that performance was far from repeating itself, leaving nine men on base and going 6-1 with runners in scoring position.

Manager Scott Servais’ chose the rookie, George Kirby, to open the game. In the Wild Card series against the Blue Jays, Kirby worked only one inning to close one of the games, and in the campaign against the Astros, he only pitched four times, in which he allowed two runs and struck out seven.

Starting pitcher: George Kirby (8-5, 3.39 ERA).

Injuries: No injuries reported.

JefeBet Prediction

The series sweep is hovering at the Mariners’ door. Kirby had a great campaña, but his closing season was quite poor and in his last three starts he gave up 7.30 ERA by allowing 10 runs in 12 innings pitched.

For his part, McCullers came off the injured list in great shape, although he still got a couple of runs in each of his outings. With the water up to their necks, the Mariners will surely be aggressive with the lumber as they were with Justin Verlander in Game 1.

Prediction: Over (HOU 5 – SEA 4).
