The Dodgers’ pitching rotation is not at its 100 percent form at the moment with injuries to the staff but at least they will have one of their best – if not the best – pitchers on the mound this Wednesday with Tony Gonsolin getting the ball. The 29-year-old Gonsolin has been spectacular so far this season.
And over his last four starts, Gonsolin has collected a 1.31 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 20.2 total innings. He’s also gone 2-1 over that stretch. Gonsolin has also been sensational even when he’s pitching away from home, as he’s gone 1-1 with zero earned runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts in three starts. Miguel Rojas is the only current Dodgers player who’s faced Atlanta starter Bryce Elder before, going 1-for-5 with an RBI.

As mentioned above, Elder will get the nod to start in this series finale versus the Dodgers. Elder has yet to pick up a loss this season. Moreover, Atlanta has won three of his last four starts. In his most recent outing, Elder allowed only two earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts over the course of 6.0 innings in a 6-2 home win over the Seattle Mariners last Friday.
Although all three of his wins this season so far came on the road, Elder sports a solid 2.17 ERA in five starts at home this year. Elder is showing great control on the mound with just a 7.1 percent walk rate while also having a decent .290 BABIP. On offense, several Braves have experience hitting against Gonsolin, including Austin Riley, who is 2-for-8 with a homer and two RBI versus the Dodgers star.
