Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (-122)
Lance Lynn will look to keep his record as a Dodger unblemished when he toes the rubber this Sunday night. Traded by the Chicago White Sox to Los Angeles, Lynn notched a win in his first start as a Dodger when he allowed three earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in 7.0 innings of a 7-3 victory over the lowly Oakland Athletics last Tuesday.
Behind Lynn is the ever-dependable Dodgers offense, which could see Amed Rosario and David Peralta steal the show. Rosario is 4-for-13 with three doubles in his career against Padres starter Rich Hill. Peralta is 5-for-19 with a home run and four RBIs in the same matchup.
Starting pitcher: Lance Lynn (6-9, 6.47 ERA)
Betting on the San Diego Padres (+102)
The Dodgers will counter Lynn with the seemingly ageless Hill. The 43-year-old Hill is scheduled to make his first career start in Padres uniform this Sunday. He was traded to San Diego by the Pittsburgh Pirates ahead of the deadline with Ji-Man Choi for Jackson Wolf, Estuar Suero, and Alfonso Rivas. In his most recent start, Hill surrendered just two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in 5.0 innings of a 6-4 Pittsburgh win against the Philadelphia Phillies on July 30. He did not get a win in that start, but the Pirates went 2-1 in his final three starts with them.
Given the shaky nature of late on the mound by Lynn, Hill can expect some robust run support from his teammates later tonight. Lynn has surrendered at least four earned runs in three of his last four starts.

Hill, who has been steadier of late than Lynn, will come up with a much better performance than the Dodgers starter. Still, I’m expecting this game to be a high-scoring one.
