Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (+100)
The Dodgers got back on track with an 8-2 victory over the Padres in the third game of this series Sunday night. It was the fifth time in their last six games that they managed to score at least seven runs.
Hoping to get the same kind of run support this Monday night is Tony Gonsolin, who gets the call to start for the Dodgers in the series finale. Gonsolin picked up a win in his most recent start, allowing just an earned run on five hits with three strikeouts in a 10-1 home victory over the Oakland Athletics. The Dodgers have won in four of his last five starts. The 29-year-old Gonsolin is also 5-2 in his last nine starts away from Dodger Stadium. He also controlled the Padres’ offense once this season already, as he surrendered zero earned runs on only two hits with six strikeouts in 5.0 innings of a 4-0 win at home back in May.
Starting pitcher: Tony Gonsolin(6-4, 4.11 ERA)
Betting on the San Diego Padres (-120)
The Padres can only hope for a tie in this series after their loss on Sunday in which their offense went cold and their pitching got rocked by Los Angeles.
Seth Lugo will take the mound in the series finale versus the Dodgers, with the righty also looking to win his first start of the month. He went 1-1 with a 3.45 ERA in five starts last July. In his most recent appearance, he allowed just two earned runs on five hits with nine strikeouts in a 4-3 road loss to the Colorado Rockies last Monday. He has pitched for at least 5.0 innings and allowed no more than two earned runs in each of his last three starts.
Gary Sanchez looks to keep it going at the plate after going 2-for-4 with a home run in Sunday’s loss. He’s hit .333 with six home runs and 13 RBIs in his last 11 games.
Starting pitcher: Seth Lugo (4-5, 3.54 ERA)
