Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (-105)
The Dodgers must be liking what they’re seeing so far from Bobby Miller. The 24-year-old pitcher impressed yet again in his last start, as he hurled six scoreless innings with just a hit and two walks allowed with seven strikeouts, albeit in a 4-1 home loss to the New York Yankees last Sunday. In three starts so far this season, Miller has surrendered just two earned runs across a total of 17 innings while also recording 16 punchouts.
Although he was not provided ample run support by the Dodgers in the Yankees game, Mookie Betts and David Peralta can be two guys to shine at the plate this Saturday. Betts is 5-for-16 with two home runs in his career versus Philly starter Aaron Nola, while Peralta is 5-for-9 in the same matchup.
Starting pitcher: Bobby Miller (2-0, 1.06 ERA)
Betting on the Philadelphia Phillies (-115)
Aaron Nola will look to score his second win in as many start this month when he takes to the mound this weekend. The last time he saw action, he held the Detroit Tigers down to zero earned runs and a hit with 12 strikeouts in seven innings of an 8-3 victory at home last Monday.
Nola had a bad couple of starts to end May, but it appears that he’s back on track after a morale-boosting result in that Detroit game. On offense, the Phillies are in the upper half of the big leagues in terms of runs scored and batting average. No Philly hitter has faced Miller before in the MLB, but they can be just as big of a mystery to him as he is to them.
Starting pitcher: Aaron Nola (5-4, 4.30 ERA)
El Jefe’s Prediction on Los Angeles Dodgers vs Philadelphia Phillies
The Dodgers are not the Tigers. Although they are streaking, the Phillies will find LA a much tougher opponent than Detroit, especially with Miller on the mound. Nola will have some success, but Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are real problems for him. Taking the Dodgers to win.
Prediction:
The Dodgers win, 5-2.
