The Dodgers are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves last Wednesday, though, they won two of three games in that series in Georgia. Los Angeles now continues its road trip which takes the team next down to Florida. Noah Syndergaard will get the ball for the Dodgers in the series opener against the Rays.
In his most recent start, Thor pitched for 5.0 innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk during a 6-5 loss in St. Louis on May 20. However, he’s been pitching better of late. In three starts this month of May, Syndergaard has a 4.50 ERA, lower than the 6.32 ERA he posted in April. The Dodgers are also inside the top five in the majors with 5.47 runs per game.

The Rays don’t have to worry about travel for this upcoming series against Los Angeles, as they will still be at Tropicana Field after hosting the Toronto Blue Jays in a three-game set. Tampa Bay, which is coming off back-to-back wins over the Blue Jays by a combined score of 13-6, will parade Jalen Beeks on the mound to start against the Dodgers.
Beeks isn’t expected to last long, as he’s likely to serve as just an opener for this game, but current Dodgers players only have a collective batting average of .207 against him across a total of 34 plate appearances. He can also get help from Tampa Bay’s offense which must be licking its chops over the prospect of facing Syndergaard, who has already allowed 16 earned runs in just 14.0 innings in road games this season.
