Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (-170)
The Dodgers will get Noah Syndergaard with at least another shot at a starting gig this coming Wednesday. Los Angeles has not won in any of Thor’s last three starts. In his most recent appearance on the mound, Syndergaard was tagged for five earned runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings of a 10-6 home loss to the Washington Nationals on May 31.
In five starts last May, Syndergaard went 0-1 with a 6.86 ERA. It can’t always be this bad for Syndergaard, though. With pressure to deliver a good performance, Syndergaard will look to keep his resume at the Great American Ball Park excellent. He has a career record of 3-0 with a 2.29 ERA in three starts at Cincinnati’s home field, dating back to 2015.
Starting pitcher: Noah Syndergaard (1-4, 6.54 ERA)
Betting on the Cincinnati Reds (+145)
Lefty Brandon Williamson will get the ball in a scheduled start this Wednesday versus the Dodgers. The 25-year-old Williamson picked up a no-decision in his last start, allowing just two earned runs on five hits with two walks surrendered in 6.2 innings of a 5-4 loss at home to the Milwaukee Brewers last Friday.
That was just the first loss of the Reds in four starts so far this season of Williamson, who is also holding opposing hitters to only .214 batting average this season at the Great American Ball Park. On offense, Spencer Steer and Jonathan India will be big threats to Syndergaard, who’s been giving up home runs left and right this season. Syndergaard has a 16.7 percent HR/FB rate.
Starting pitcher: Brandon Williamson (0-0, 4.29 ERA)
El Jefe’s Prediction on Los Angeles Dodgers vs Cincinnati Reds
It’s just so hard to trust Syndergaard at the moment. If the Dodgers are to win this game, it will be because of their offense. With that, we’re still going with LA to win this game.
Prediction:
The Dodgers win, 7-5.
