Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (-200)
Emmett Sheehan will be making his third start of the year (the third of his career, as well) this Thursday against the Rockies. Tonight’s matchup versus Colorado will also be Sheehan’s first on the road, so this should be a good test for him. Sheehan looked impressive in his last appearance on the mound, as he carried himself well against the reigning World Series champions Houston Astros, allowing just two earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and two free passes issued in 6.0 innings of a 3-2 victory at Dodger Stadium.
In 12 innings worth of appearance thus far, he has given up just two earned runs to go with seven strikeouts. Supporting Sheehan is the Dodgers’ offense that features Freddie Freeman who appears to have a good read of Colorado pitcher Chase Anderson’s stuff. Freeman is 4-for-14 with a home run and two walks in his career against Anderson.

Anderson can’t wait to get back on the mound and atone for his pathetic performance in his most recent mound appearance. Last Saturday, he got lit up by the Los Angeles Angels for nine runs on 10 hits, including three home runs, in just 2.2 innings of a 25-1 loss at home. Over his last two starts, Anderson has given up 16 earned runs on 17 hots (five home runs) and issued six walks in just 5.2 innings.
It can’t always be bad for Anderson, but he also hopes that the Rockies’ offense will have his back. As mentioned earlier, Sheehan has never made a start away from Dodger Stadium in his career, and he could be exposed in this game at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Outside of his forgettable start against the Angels, Anderson has not allowed more than three earned runs at home this season.
