At last, the Dodgers are about to see Julio Urias back in action in the big leagues again. The 26-year-old Urias has not pitched for over a month due to a hamstring problem that also landed him on the injured list. Hopefully for the Dodgers, Urias is indeed completely over his injury. In his last start, he allowed six earned runs on six hits in three innings of a 16-8 road loss to the St. Louis Cardinals back in May.
Urias was clearly not himself in that contest, but when healthy, he can be one of the best in the game today. In three starts prior to the loss to the Cardinals, Urias went 2-0 with a 2.29 ERA and held opponents down to just a .192 batting average. A matchup against the light-hitting Royals also sounds like the perfect comeback assignment for Urias.

The Royals might have a sneaky good weapon on the mound for this game, with Daniel Lynch getting the start. While Lynch has a mediocre 3.96 ERA and a 5.01 FIP this season, he’s gotten way better of late. The Royals have gone 2-0 in his last two starts, during which he allowed just an earned run on seven hits in 13 total innings of action.
That includes his most recent outing against the MLB-leading Tampa Bay Rays, who only managed a hit (a home run) and six hits off of Lynch. Kansas City hitters will also love the fact that Urias is just 1-3 with a 7.61 ERA in five road starts this season.
