Once again, the Los Angeles Dodgers are getting ready to start the 2023 MLB season as one of the favorites to win the ultimate championship, which they could not accomplish last campaign after falling to the Padres in the Championship Series.

Well, that rough patch must be quickly forgotten, since the San Diego team is precisely their biggest rival in the fight to win the National League West Division for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The team led by Dave Roberts is the candidate to win the division again, despite a few departures, such as that of the experienced Justin Turner, the organization’s star player for nine seasons.

Other players that are no longer with the Dodgers include Trea Turner, the stellar shortstop who signed a multi-million dollar contract as a free agent with the Phillies; outfielder Cody Bellinger, now with the Cubs; and controversial starter Trevor Bauer, who left for Japan after just 107.2 innings pitched in two years with the team.

But not everything was about letting go. Without a lot of star-name trades, Los Angeles management filled several gaps with the arrival of slugger J.D. Martínez, who was traded by the Marlins, as well as Miguel Rojas (shortstop), and David Peralta, another good defender in the outfield.

They will join a very decent offense led by a pair of MVPs: Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. In addition, Max Muncy, Will Smith, and rookie Miguel Vargas also form part of the offense, from whom much is expected since Gavin Lux’s injury will keep him out of action all year.

The rotation did not undergo major changes. Julio Urías will be the Opening Day starter followed by Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, and the team’s newest acquisition, right-hander Noah Syndergaard, who will replace Tyler Anderson.

The bullpen will not count on Craig Kimbrel, but with Shelby Miller, Yency Almonte, Evan Phillips, and Brusdar Graterol they shouldn’t have too many problems.

Los Angeles Dogders in the 2022 Season

“Disappointing” is the only adjective that can describe the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2022 season, as they failed to even make it to the National League Championship Series.

Roberts’ ninth led the Major Leagues from start to finish and not only finished 22 games ahead of the Padres for first place in the West Division, but it also posted the best record in all of MLB with 111 wins.

The Dodgers also finished with the best collective efficiency in the league, and no other team scored more runs than they did. In addition, their spectacular record earned them the right not to play in the Wild Card series and to play against the ninth team with the lowest record.

In this case, that team was the Padres, whom they had beaten 14 times in 19 games during the regular round, but could not overcome them in the Division Series after being defeated by 3-1.

Los Angeles Dodgers Odds for the 2023 Season

In Las Vegas, the experts are extremely excited about the season the Dodgers can have in the National League and that’s why at JefeBet we bring you the most interesting odds where the Californiansd can make the difference at the end of the 2023 season.

Regular Round Wins: Over 95.5 (+100) – Under 93.5 (-120)

Los Angeles Dodgers

Since 2013, the Dodgers have not failed to win at least 90 games in the West Division, including four occasions in which they totaled more than 100 wins.

For this campaign, Las Vegas puts up a rather eye-popping figure, as while Los Angeles has totaled at least 100 victories over the past two seasons, the Padres are expected to give them a much closer fight than they did in 2022.

Will They Make It to the Playoffs? Yes (-600) – No (+475)

Barring a disaster, it looks almost impossible for the Dodgers to be out of the postseason with the roster they have for this 2023 MLB season.

The Los Angeles pitching staff has practically the same pieces as last season when they finished leaders in collective effectiveness, while on the offensive side the presence of Betts, Freeman, and Martínez should be a safe bet in terms of production.

With six National League spots available for the postseason and a West Division that looks to be a battle between the Padres and Dodgers, the Californians should be in the MLB playoffs for the 11th consecutive time.

Odds of Winning Western Division (-115)

The presence of Betts and Freeman sustain a Dodgers’ lineup that does not have the same depth as previous seasons and is considered the team’s big question mark for 2023.

That’s why it’s so important that the pitching staff once again dominate the league as they did last season and beat the Padres in head-to-head games, who will have one of the strongest lineups this year.

National League Champion (+425)

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers remain one of the favorite teams to win it all in the Major Leagues, and are second only to the Braves in the betting odds to win the National League.

Despite last year’s misfortune, the Los Angeles core remains largely intact and that is why in Las Vegas they are ahead of organizations such as the Padres, Mets, Cardinals, and Phillies. All are strong contenders for the old circuit pennant.

World Series Champion (+850)

While Las Vegas expects this season’s World Series champion to come out of the American League, with the Astros and Yankees leading the betting, the Braves and the Dodgers are the Nationals’ representatives in the title race.

Let’s keep in mind that in the last six seasons, the Los Angeles team has reached the World Series three times, winning the 2020 short season. In addition, they have 10 consecutive seasons qualifying for the postseason and a very powerful squad.

JefeBet Prediction

The Dodgers’ pitching staff did not undergo major changes from last season, which is why we can’t help but place the team as a favorite to win the National West Division again.

As long as Los Angeles keeps opponents at bay, the good offense Roberts will have at his disposal will surely get the job done. It will not be like the previous campaigns, but runs will fall one way or another with Betts, Freeman, Muncy, and Martínez.

What’s more, the Padres are a real threat to the Dodgers, but there are some uncertainties with San Diego’s starting rotation that will make the difference when it comes to defining the division title at the end of the regular round.

Prediction: The Dodgers win the West Division and lose in the Divisional Series.
